Join us on Sunday, June 3rd at 4:00 pm at Agecroft Hall, 4305 Sulgrave Rd, for the 5th annual Tour de Harrison, a gentle 10-mile family bike ride through Windsor Farms and Byrd Park in Richmond, VA. Proceeds from the Tour de Harrison will go towards funding of research into T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Last year, we raised over $30,000 with 130 riders and 225 supporters. The money raised was issued as a grant to Dr. Adolfo Ferrando and his team at Columbia University to bolster his research on NOTCH1 genes and their effect on T-cell leukemia. Progress is being made on epigenetic tumor suppressor genes, mutations on NOTCH1 genes and oncogene translocations which are all providing clues to potential cures. (Click here for more information.) Dr. Ferrando, a rider last year, comments, “The Tour de Harrison is one of the most inspiring events I ever had the opportunity to participate in. The Strickler family, the Rally Foundation and everybody who took part on the Tour demonstrated the tight bonds of their community and their commitment to fight Childhood Cancer through supporting research.” Thanks to you, we are making a real difference in T-cell cancer research.
The ride will begin at 4:00 pm and concludes with burritos from Chipotle. Due to safety issues, the ride will not be held if raining.
To ride or participate in the day’s festivities, tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for Youth (12 and under) before race day. Day of race registration is $35 for adults and $20 for youth. The first 150 registrants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and dinner. To register, CLICK HERE. Registration will close Friday, June 1st at midnight, but you will be able to register the day of the event as well.
Donations can be made online or by sending a check made payable to Rally Foundation to the address below. Make sure to write “Tour de Harrison” in the memo line and forward your check to:
